Last week we shared Psalm 46 and talked about taking time to be still and reflect on the Lord. Although it seems so easy to just set aside a little time each day to rest in the Lord, all of us know from experience that it is actually really difficult to stop what we’re doing—stuff that we feel needs to happen now—and reflect on God...
God Is Our Refuge and Strength
Before we get into the topic for today, we want to share a really cool God moment that led to this blog. We did not have a formal devotional today, but we did meet for a prayer time. Before prayer, the staff member who writes the blog was reflecting on what the Lord wanted to share in the blog today
God Gets Around the Red Tape to Make Himself Known
Our devotional today was over 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, but we focused specifically on verses three and eleven:
“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said…So it makes no difference whether I preach or they preach, for we all preach the same message you have already believed.”
Prayer Blog
We did not have a devotional today, but we did have a wonderful prayer time for all our current families and the families the Lord keeps sending our way. We can say in full confidence that God has brought and continues to bring us some truly amazing families who are committed to loving and supporting the children placed in their homes.
The Lord is Gracious and Righteous: A Brief Recap of 2017
Advent Conspiracy: Love All
The tree was up on time, the house was decorated, the candlelight service was beautiful, and the kids loved their presents; Christmas (despite all the stress) went well this year. But now it’s time to take the decorations down and finish those leftovers from Christmas dinner. It’s time to go back to work and get back into the everyday routine.
Advent Conspiracy: Give More (Relationally)
Advent Conspiracy: Spend Less Because Jesus Completes Us
During 2016, Americans spent $658 billion dollars in retail stores and the numbers are expected to grow in the coming years. Our culture is so focused on money: spending money, managing money, making money, and saving money. There is a bank (sometimes two) on every corner and advertisements on billboards claim low interest rates or debt consolidation while the next billboard down promises a “great deal” on whatever the newest, coolest gadget is.
Advent Conspiracy: Worship Fully
Persistence in Prayer: Lifting Up Our Families
Praying without ceasing, that’s how we strive to live at 4KIDS. An appeals process is taking a long time; we pray. A child is struggling in their new home; we pray. Visits with the bio family cause mixed emotions in a child; we pray. CPS is coming to a family’s home to do a random inspection; we pray.
