Come Lord Jesus
Sometimes that is all you can say in the face of the world and all its problems.
At our San Antonio foster care agency, we've compiled a comprehensive Recommended Resources page filled with suggestions specifically designed for foster and adoptive families, but applicable to all families. Here are four outstanding resources that have been making a significant impact in our community.
Pray for our foster families. Pray that more answer the call to make disciples of orphans. Pray boldly that every child finds a safe, loving home where they can hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray for biological families to succeed in their court-mandated services so they can be reunified. Pray for a legal system that prioritizes the well-being of children.
Children in foster care often come from traumatic backgrounds. At 1HOPE for Kids, we believe that building trust through connection leads to healing relationships. That's why we've partnered with equine-assisted therapy (EAT) providers to support our foster kids in the San Antonio area.
EAT is a unique form of therapy that builds patient connection and trust through its treatment program with horses. We're proud to partner with three organizations offering EAT ...
School is out and that means summer is here! Every parent, whether foster, adoptive, or biological needs to have a plan for restless kid syndrome. Here are seven free things you can do with your kids to explore, cool off, or learn.
We hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend with their families and that many happy memories were made! Here at 4KIDS we also had a long weekend, which ultimately means playing lots of catch up for the rest of the week, so we did not all come together for a devotional this morning. But just because we didn’t all sit around the conference room table this morning doesn’t mean that prayer stopped happening.
The first time I walked down the hall of the third floor at Bexar County Courthouse, it felt like I was in a theater with five or ten screens each playing different movies before me. I caught snatches of covert conversations held between case-workers and CASA volunteers, saw looks full of emotion flash between biological family members and foster parents and listened as attorneys shouted out case names and conferred with their clients.
The room smells of coffee, paper and expo markers. The chairs gathered around the table are all shapes and sizes, always changing places as staff members try out new seating arrangements. In the middle of the table is a china blue candle from Bath and Body Works that is lit when the person working at the table just needs a little something to make the day special. This is the place where meetings occur, brainstorming takes place and interviews are held, but more importantly this is the room where prayer happens.
There is a tug on all our hearts when we read the story of a hero. We are drawn to the epic of a great heart, full of honest and honorable intentions, striving to make the wrong right and bring justice in a darkened world. As the hero faces close calls, we find ourselves holding our breath. As the heroine defends the vulnerable, we cheer her on. We love these stories. We want to be part of one…
4KIDS celebrated the blessing of moms over the weekend by hosting a Noonday Collection Trunk Show. The "collaboration" was natural because of Noonday's roots in support of adoption. The company partners with artisans in vulnerable parts of the world to create opportunities for women to earn sustainable incomes to help support their families. Saturday, a percentage of the proceeds went to 4KID'S first adoptive family of 2017, the Dishonghs. Thank you Kathy for sharing your story as well as part of Savannah's journey.
