1HOPE’s Response to COVID-19

Thank you for being part of our community, and for trusting God and our team to guide you as we navigate the unknown. As the situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to progress, we wanted to give you an update on 1HOPE’s response and the continued needs of our kids in care. We are working closely with CPS and public health administrators to ensure the safety and health of our children, families, and staff while making necessary adjustments to care when needed.

SUPPORT NEEDED DURING THIS TIME

  • Although health concerns for the general public continue to become more prevalent, we know the mental, emotional, and medical needs of children in foster care will not disappear! Many services we provide our families and kids are still needed even amid many organizational shutdowns.

  • Click here to visit our general donation page to help support medical, diaper, meal, daycare, and other needs for our foster families and children.

  • Visit our Amazon Wish List here, where you can purchase diapers and/or wipes, which will be provided to our families as needed. We have depleted our supply of diapers and wipes that we provide our foster families and are in need of diapers and wipes, especially during this time.

**We are especially in need of funding for infant cranial forming helmets—each helmet costs nearly $2,000 and is not covered by Medicaid and often timing for production is immediate!**

FOSTER FAMILIES

  • Our office is closed and our entire 1HOPE staff is now working from home. There is no change to your communication; however, you will not be able to come to our physical office until further notice. Your case manager and Kristi Parker are always available via phone or email.

  • 1HOPE Case Managers will be conducting home visits via FaceTime or Skype, when possible.

  • You are still required to keep up with on-going training to maintain licensing. Your Case Manager will work with you to complete necessary classes and trainings.

  • Effective July 13, All face-to-face visits including monthly contacts between caseworker, client(s) and parent-child visits will return to being in-person.

  • Please refer to the letter emailed from Kristi Parker, dated March 18, for instructions on prevention, exposure and travel. These are critical concerns for all our children in care and specific protocol must be followed.

FUTURE FOSTER FAMILIES

  • We are STILL actively licensing homes and placing children, and all placements will still be done in person, by our staff.

  • If you have recently completed our PIP1 Orientation class, you will be contacted by one of our Family Home Developers to discuss methods to continue your training classes.

  • If you are in the middle of licensing and still have outstanding requirements and classes, you will also be contacted by a Family Home Developer to discuss continuation of requirements.

  • If you have NOT completed our PIP1 Orientation class, click here to complete an Inquiry Form. We will respond to you once we receive your inquiry. For now, we are creating a framework for training incoming families, and will continue to update this information as it becomes available.

Thank you so much for all that you do to serve children in foster care. Your support is truly invaluable to the mission of providing hope and homes to children in crisis. As a 1HOPE family, we are praying for everyone’s safety and health during this time!
